Child Airlifted After Head on Collision in Forney

According to inforney.com, the Forney Police Department was investigating a major head-on collision that caused serious injuries to a child. The child was airlifted to a Dallas-area hospital.

The crash was reported at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Farm-to-Market (FM) 548 just a little ways north of U.S. Highway 80 near the Wal-Mart Murphy’s gas station. Two vehicles were involved, including a sedan and a passenger van — both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage.

A child in one of the vehicles was transported by ground ambulance to the helipad at Lake Pointe hospital in Forney. According to Forney Fire Department Chief Rick Townsend, once there a CareFlite helicopter transported the child to Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, .

Two others were transported by ground ambulance — one to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. A portion of southbound FM 548 — from CVS to Murphy’s — is closed while police map the scene of the crash. The Forney Fire Department, Forney Police Department, and three CareFlite ambulances responded to the scene.
