Fatality Accident in Mesquite Claims Life of Kaufman Woman

According to inforney.com, a crash on Interstate 20 in Mesquite, Texas claimed the life of a 61-year-old Kaufman, Texas, woman.

The Mesquite Police Department reports that a 2004 Dodge Ram truck traveling westbound on Interstate 20 while pulling a utility trailer when the trailer suddenly became detached from the truck and crossed the center median. That is when it struck a van traveling eastbound head-on near the Lawson Road exit. The driver of the van, later identified as 61-year-old Marisela Gomez Maldonado of Kaufman, Texas, was flown by CareFlite medical helicopter to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, in critical condition.

Unfortunately, Maldonado died as a result of her injuries, according to the Mesquite Police Department. Two other passengers in the van, also from Kaufman, suffered injuries and were transported to Dallas Regional Hospital in Mesquite, Texas. The occupants of the Dodge truck, all of Terrell, Texas, were uninjured and not involved in the collision.
