Two Accidents on Highway 80 Cause Rush Hour Back Ups

FORNEY, Texas — Two separate wrecks on westbound U.S. Highway 80 are causing major delays Tuesday morning.
The wrecks were reported just before 7 a.m. on westbound U.S. Highway 80 on the East Fork Trinity River bridge near the Dallas-Kaufman County line.

The Forney Police Department, Forney Fire Department, the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, and Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of two reported crashes involving four vehicles. No injuries were reported.

Traffic was backed up to Farm-to-Market (FM) 548 which caused delays of approximately 45 minutes for morning commuters.
Once traffic began to ease, another crash was reported near Sunnyvale, further hindering the delayed traffic.
A minor crash was reported at 7:15 a.m. on the north service road at Pinson Road. This crash has since been cleared and no injuries were reported.

This is a developing story.

Commentary:
Not every accident involves physical injuries that require medical treatment right away. But if you have been in an accident before, you know that some injuries and soreness do not manifest until the next day, or even longer. These are still personal injuries, and if they cause you to miss work, go to the doctor, or impact your ability to do your job while at work, then you have damages and those damages may be recoverable under the other parties insurance policy. You should not have to claim them under yours, or take it on the chin towards your paid time off or work disability. The other party should have to pay.
Additionally, the property damages caused by the negligent driver should be paid by the negligent driver’s insurance policy. The opposing party’s insurance policy is liable for any repairs, and you may even have a claim for lost value. If the car is totaled, then their insurance policy should present you with a fair offer of settlement for the value of the car.
If you have been injured in an accident, you need to know your rights. An experienced personal injury attorney can help you in ways you do not even realize. So before you accept an offer from the insurance company, consult with a local attorney about your situation.
