Police said a Duncan Disposal trash truck was traveling southbound on Collins, making a turn to go westbound onto Moiser Valley Road. The Duncan Disposal truck struck an 18 wheeler and a dump truck while turning, causing the trash truck to flip over and land on its side, according to police.
The Arlington Police Department confirmed the driver of the Duncan Disposal vehicle died on the scene while the dump truck driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the 18 wheeler was not injured.
Accidents between commercial vehicles are on the rise in north Texas. We have high commercial traffic and the Dallas and Fort Worth area economies are booming. A negative effect of this is that commercial vehicle accidents between passenger cars and other commercial vehicles are on the rise. When these accidents occur, the consquences are often tragic.
An unfortunate aspect of these types of accidents is: who pays the damages? There was loss of life and damaged property. Because of this, insurance claims, negligence and wrongful death claims and most likely worker’s compensation claims will all be filed as a result of this accident. This seems to hold true regardless of who was actually at fault. What we do know for sure is that this accident is another example of how dangerous commercial accidents can be.
